Our Founder
Carlos Vazquez is President and CEO of Miami EdTech, a non-profit that provides professional development & curriculum to teachers and school districts & helps them integrate Computer Science, Computational Thinking, and Entrepreneurship into Core Content areas like Math and Science.
Passionate about Workforce Education, Carlos has spent his career at the intersection of technology and education. Formally trained as a Computer Scientist, the inspiration to launch Miami EdTech came from 1. the countless teachers who have inspired him 2. the STEM crisis faced in access for Black and Brown people 3. his experience as a 5th grade teacher in NYC.
Carlos is Puerto Rican and Dominican and grew up in the South Bronx where he attended Public School through middle school. He was the first in his family to graduate college and credits his passion for supporting teachers to his experience as a student and then as a teacher through the New York City Teaching Fellows program.
Carlos graduated with a degree in Computer Science from Fordham University and holds an M.S. in Web Strategy & Design and an M.S. in Education. He has taught from the elementary to the college level for over 15 years in New York City, San Francisco, and Miami.
Committed to empowering educators and helping them ignite a passion in STEM for their students, Carlos has made it his mission to combine elements of positive psychology and social justice to address the striking inequities in access and training in education especially for people of color.
Carlos is also the Founding Chapter President for the Computer Science Teachers Association in Miami and provides educational consulting in the areas of workforce development, instructional design, and project based learning.
