From PD Bingo to AI Integration: My Annual FETC Adventure

I look forward to two edtech conferences every year: International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) and Future of Education Technology Conference (FETC). The latter kicks off next week in Orlando, FL. Every time I go, I come back with ideas to try out in my classroom or with teachers in trainings. For example, one of my faviorite things I have done with my teachers is PD Bingo and I learned about that at FETC 2023.

Something awaits everyone, from newcomers starting their edtech journey to veterans leading sessions themselves. It’s also helpful because they have different tracks depending on your focus. Tracks include sessions for: district leaders, school leaders, classroom leaders, IT leaders and coach leaders. I glanced over the Featured Speakers under every track and saw some familiar names and faces such as, George Couros, AJ Juliani, Holly Clark and Carl Hooker, all of whom I have followed for awhile and seen speak at previous conferences.

Last year, I went with a group of teachers and one complaint they had was that it was hard to find sessions that didn’t include AI. This year, from the topics listed, it does appear AI is again prominent, but I also see more variety.

Of course, in addition to the sessions and expo, another major benefit from attending is the networking opportunities. Just randomly speaking to people around me, I have made connections that I still utilize today.

What are some of the best sessions you have ever attended? Are you making it to FETC this year? If so, what are you excited about?
