Computer Science continues to be one of the fastest growing job sectors in the country with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projecting that employment in computer and information technology occupations will grow by 11% from 2019 to 2029, much faster than the average for all occupations. Despite this fact, a little more than half—53 percent—of U.S. high schools offered foundational computer science classes in 2022.
On Friday, June 2, close to 30 Computer Science teachers were honored and recognized for their commitment to bringing and supporting computer science education in their schools and communities. The event was held at loanDepot park, in the new Ironhack space, where Ironhack recently announced a partnership to make them the first technology training provider to create a year-round on-site presence and host classes within a Major League Baseball park. Ironhack has been a community partner since the launch of Miami EdTech in 2018.
