Making a Powerful Impact on the Community
This past month has been incredible! My colleagues Chezney, Maria, and I had the privilege of visiting Hialeah Middle School, Jorge Mas Canosa Middle School, and Miami Senior High School, where we delivered much-needed school supplies to deserving teachers: Ms. Patreece Perry (Hialeah Middle), Ms. Mayka Garcia (Jorge Mas Canosa), and Ms. Toni Kooper (Miami Senior High). These dedicated educators were the lucky winners of Miami EdTech’s raffle at the Miami-Dade County Public Schools Career and Technical Education (CTE) Opening of Schools event, where we proudly served as sponsors. This initiative part is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting educators, students, and the local community.
Each classroom was buzzing with excitement as we arrived with over 25 backpacks filled with essential school supplies—just in time for the new academic year. Each student greeted us with smiles and laughter as they eagerly received their new backpacks, and it was heartwarming to see their faces light up as they realized they now had everything they needed to start the school year on the right foot. Moments like these remind us of the powerful impact we can have when we come together as a community.
Supporting Miami’s Educators and Students
The raffle at the CTE event was more than just a giveaway. It highlighted Miami EdTech’s mission to bridge gaps in education by empowering teachers and students with the resources they need to thrive. By participating in events like the CTE Opening of Schools, we can directly engage with educators, providing tools and opportunities that help shape the future of learning in South Florida.
Dropping off those bookbags to the schools was a powerful reminder of why we do the work we do. Education is not just about what happens inside the classroom; it’s about creating an environment where students feel supported and teachers are equipped to inspire the next generation. Thanks to partnerships with local leaders, like Miami-Dade’s Department of Career and Technical Education,, we continue to uplift both the students and educators who are integral to building a better future for our community.
The Broader Impact
Our involvement in the CTE Opening of Schools and the raffle was just one small part of the larger picture. By sponsoring this event, Miami EdTech aimed to spotlight the crucial role teachers play in preparing students for tomorrow’s workforce. Whether through professional development, apprenticeships, or STEAM programs, we work daily to close the skills gap and create pathways for economic mobility in Miami.
The impact we had as we dropped off the bookbags at each of the schools was that we couldn’t help but feel inspired by the students’ enthusiasm! This is what it’s all about—ensuring that every student, no matter their background, has the tools and support to succeed. We look forward to continuing our work across Miami-Dade County, helping students and teachers alike reach new heights in education and beyond.
