I use Canva all the time. For my own work, for presentations, with students. I would have called myself pretty fluent. Then I went to ISTE and sat in a session on Canva Code, and it turns out I had no idea what Canva can do now.
Canva Code allows you to use vibe coding to build interactive experiences inside your designs. You describe what you want in plain language and Canva builds it. No coding background required!
The session was designed like a playground, so I was able to play with it right then and there. I typed in a prompt asking it to build a 5E lesson plan. It took a little back and forth to get it where I wanted, but we got there. You can check out my creation here. What really got me was the back end feature. You can ask Canva Code to create a backend and student responses automatically populate a spreadsheet, giving you instant data without ever leaving Canva.
I haven’t tried it with my students yet, but I’m already thinking about the applications. It feels like it can take hyperdocs to the next level.
I walked out of that session a convert, and I thought I already was one!
Next up: Canva Whiteboards. It might be the best Jamboard replacement out there.
