As we launch this new year and we reflect on the past year, it’s impossible not to be filled with pride and admiration for the remarkable teachers recognized through the CSforAll Teacher Awards. It all started in 2022 when Miami EdTech was selected to represent Miami-Dade County as part of the inaugural CSforALL Accelerator Program. When the opportunity came to join the 2023 cohort, we were all in!
This celebration was more than just an awards ceremony; it was a tribute to the educators who have transformed the way students perceive and engage with computer science.
Each organization in the CSforAll cohort—Miami EdTech, CSTA, Code/Art, Infento, and Riders—had the honor of highlighting teachers who stood out for their innovative approaches and unwavering dedication. These educators didn’t just teach computer science; they inspired a generation to see the world through a new lens, solving problems creatively and confidently.
We opened up with some incredible words from Sylvester King from the UD Foundation as he shared the impact of the cohort’s work and the tireless efforts of the teachers that were made. The partnership between Miami EdTech and UD Foundation helped spark STEM interest across the region as schools were able to bring EVs to the classroom!
We had star students share how their teachers had impacted them. Their knowledge of CS has not only grown, but they were able to overcome challenges because of how much their teachers poured into them. With that increased impact, they took up challenges and even won full-ride scholarships to study computer science at university.
We honored our teachers with special awards from each cohort member and celebrated the night!
As we closed out the cohort in our second and final year, we’re thrilled to see the lasting impact that our collective efforts have had on the community. The teachers we’ve honored are living proof that with the right support and inspiration, students can achieve more than they ever imagined in the field of computer science. This success is a testament to the strength and dedication of our entire community.
