Exploring careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) with experts can be an exciting and informative way for students to learn about the various career paths available to them in these fields. Career day at school has never looked more exciting than today! Students as early as elementary school can gain insights into daily work life, the skills and education needed, and the potential career paths in the field of STEM.

Today, there is an ever-growing demand for professionals in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) fields. As the job market continues to evolve, it’s essential that students explore and understand the potential career paths available to them in these industries. As the market expands, a career in STEM has some of the highest earning potential.

Career exploration in STEM can be exciting as many job opportunities in the field didn’t exist just a few years ago.

So what are some of the exciting career opportunities available in the field of STEM to early learners? Here is a list of a few careers to explore:

LEGO Designer

Children love LEGOS! The love for exploration with legos begins as early as 18 months of age. As students explore the love of creating structures, new and innovative ideas are needed for LEGO sets. Curiosity, attention to detail, and creativity is the right combination to aim for this career! Check-out USA Today’s interview with Lego Designer Wesley Talbott.

Mobile Application Developer

TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram, Minecraft are just a few applications students might use on a day to day basis. How are these apps created? How do they continue to run? People who work as mobile application developers and designers are the geniuses behind it all. There are two traditional paths one can take—-the user experience (UX) and outward design or writing the code that operates the app. There is a huge variety of apps from social media to gaming which allows for endless opportunities in this field.

Certified Ethical Hacker

Hackathons are a thing of today! Many explore “Cracking the code” and solving issues digitally through these activities. Why should a student stop there? As time goes on, the more we rely on technology across systems, networks, and platforms, hackers who attack computer systems become more of an increasing threat as they look to steal valuable information. To combat this, ethical hackers find weaknesses across systems by utilizing the same techniques so companies can discover how they may improve their security.

Exploring careers in STEM with experts can be an enriching and inspiring experience for students.Teachers can take career exploration with students to the next level with engaging activities led by experts in STEM related fields. Lead education technology and science platforms like Discovery Education have taken the lead on just this.
