Hello, my name is Olivia Sardina, I am 15 years old, and a Junior Web Developer at Miami EdTech and I’m excited to share my SYIP journey with you!
SYIP Success Workshop
It was pleasant seeing multiple people coming together with commitment to students, showing their dedication to the internship. The opportunities are endless in this internship! We, as interns, are building our brand. How we present ourselves is very important. It will affect our future.
What I took away from the Success Workshop was… Miami Dade College is offering free dual enrollment classes to high school students. Along with the internships are Grow with Google certifications in Cybersecurity, Project Management, Digital Marketing & E-commerce, Data Analytics, UX Design, IT Support, and AI Essentials. Interns are required to use Bulb to create a personal portfolio based on their internship experience.
As I build my brand, my future is benefited by my achievements. This internship experience will open a new chapter in my life and is one step closer to adulthood. Improving my collaboration skills will be a fundamental part of this internship. I learned from our keynote speaker Evan Leaphart that putting your best foot forward is always important, and never give up.
My Internship Experience so far...
The first week of this internship was very entertaining and full of learning experiences. Getting to know the entire team was wonderful. Seeing them working from several different parts of the world as well as how they all come together and collaborate as one. Becoming familiar with new python algorithms as well as AI information I had never discovered before was a highlight of week one.
The second week of the internship was full of fun and collaboration. I started my Google AI Essentials course, which is solely based on Artificial intelligence in the past, present, and future. There was also lots of information about using AI correctly to get exactly what you are looking for. Toward the end of the week, my team and I took apart an Infento go-cart. This process was not the easiest, however, it was great learning from our experience.
Now, summing up the third week, it was the most challenging and the most entertaining week so far. The team finished building the new Infento vehicle, with many challenges along the way. Thankfully, in the end it all went well and we achieved a victory! Other than Infento, I continued working on data transfer and keeping up with some other projects. This experience has been a blast and I love learning, and can’t wait to learn some more!
